when i were a lad i was in a skiffle band, we used a tea chest as a bass and a washing board that was played with thimbles on your fingers as the drum

You mean Lonnie Donegan !
There is an old clip that does the rounds where Huw Wheldon is interviewing the great Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin as a very pale young whippersnapper who was a member of a skiffle group .
Peri,
I remember that song. It was from a film called 'A Connecticut Yankee at King Arthur's Court.' Bing Crosby was in it, William Bendix. and Cedric Hardwick. Some of it was filmed at Haddon Hall near Bakewell in the Peak District. I have it on a disc somewhere.
As the song says
You're busy doin' nothin'
Workin' the whole day through
Tryin' to find lots of things not to do
You're busy goin' nowhere
Isn't it just a crime
You'd like to be unhappy, but
You never do have the time
To take the lead from the captains song. "You'll have to wake the sun up.He's liable to sleep all day."
Thanks, I wondered. The frame was part of the machine It was a fold away lid for the machine.
