Pick Your Barmpot...

As we all know some extremely big names from UK screen appeared in cameo roles in our series. If the show had run on who would you have liked to seen in the show and what sort of barmpot character would they have played?

I'd choose Patrick Stewart, he is a Yorkshireman and I could see him playing an ex teaching collegue from Seymours past who shares his madcap ideas....

Tom Baker would have been quite fun. Could've basically taken on any eccentric role given to him.

If Sykes could have Peter Sellers as a guest then LOTSW could have had Spike Milligan specifically as a guest poet in the Who's that Mouse in the Poetry Group where he could have read one of his poems such as :-

Said Hamlet to Ophelia,
I'll draw a sketch of thee,
What kind of pencil shall I use?
2B or not 2B?

I'd have liked to see Peter Martin do more, I think he would have been a great regular.
I think also Geoffrey Huges would have made a cracking nemesis for Auntie Wainwright.

The trio could check up about the groom from the series 3 episode and call into a local pub where he is living where the Landlord [Mr Blessed] overhearing their conversation announces to them " Good news lads Gordon's Alive!!! "

I think a fellow Scouser would have proved to be an excellent addition......after all,he excelled in one of Roy Clarke's other amazing shows.....GEOFFREY HUGHES....A.K.A. ONSLOW.

He could have played a wannabe town crier that the trio try to find a gig. I can see it now, he starts to Oh-Yay in the cafe, Ivy drops the tea tray and they're all kicked out....

I loved gentle comedy All Gas and Gaiters with Mr Nimmo. BBC Sounds had a few episodes a while back and it was great to re-visit . I always wanted to play the Railway game they invented.
