That's really sad news, I remember her fondly from growing up. She was a good actress and took the part of Mrs. Hudson really well in Sherlock.
I always thought she would've been ideal for an appearance as a one off character in Summer Wine.
She will be missed.
The consummate English Lady with so many diverse roles , she was such a star from Summer Holiday to Rita Garnett. Although never really a leading lady in terms of her roles she was in any number of 60's movies and was one of those "60's girls" who continued to act through the generations . She was brilliant as Aunt Sally ruling the roost over the hapless Worzel and who can forget her opposite Lionel Blair in Give us a Glue , which graced our screens as a very popular gameshow for many years , who'd have thought that a simple game of charades would pull in millions of viewers . Later in life she appeared in all sorts of comedic and dramatic roles but she will probably be best remembered as Rita who with the "Scouse Git" plagued the life out of Alf Garnett. A very very sad loss.
