Not wishing to be pedantic, but I never considered the Pilot, 'Of Funerals and Fish' to be part of Series #1. It was, after all, a Comedy Playhouse episode.
I am sure I have already stated somewhere (and probably more than once) I just found Compo a nasty little man in that pilot episode. I definitely felt they toned down his unpleasantness when the show proper came along.
By far and away the best episode for me in the whole Blamire era was 'Serenade for Wind Instruments and Canoe'. It seemed to be a precursor for many subsequent pranks on water. I seemed to feel it being reprised in 'The Swan Man of Ilkley'. If any in Series #1 it was 'The New Mobile Trio' for me but they all had a considerable quality to them.
