Summer Wine Inflation

I find it fascinating to see the prices shown in the show to give an idea how much prices have gone up, particularly those on Ivys board. This one however drew my eye, it is from Beware Of The Oglethorpe which was from 1998. According to the BofE inflation calculator £2.69 from 1998 in todays money is around £4.80. Not sure about the rest of the country but I certainly couldn't get a bottle of Chilean wine for less than a fiver around here!!!!

You do raise a very valid point there, VAT was definitely lower then and probably wine duties so perhaps not just inflation! That said Foggy would have definitely needed a bigger coin wallet today......

I can imagine Auntie would be selling it as tonic wine " Auntie Wainwrights Wonderful Wincarnis" but given what she'd charge it would be better names Wince Carnis.
