I don't think any places in the UK can be 800 miles apart as the crow flies, unless you include the Shetland Islands, but I could be wrong.

But if it's Lands End then it's the North Sea.

That was the source of my confusion, newfangled measuring system. Had me thinking the country was a few hundred miles longer than it is.
