Well Worth a Watch

I remember 1963....my last Christmas in UK before flying out to Oz in mid Jan '64.:)

It was below freezing when we left and 2 days later we arrived to the first 100F day of the season here.
I have photos of us all dressed up like refugees in front of Buck-house on the day we left, scarves, overcoats, the works!
I don't think they ever got worn again after we arrived here, even in winter!
 
There was a good BTF film shot in 1963 :"Snowdrift at Bleath Gill" on the long closed Stainmore route.

My like is for your spirit of adventure, in no way would you get a like for the treacherous white stuff , if I never saw it again in my lifetime I would be delighted !
 
Saw some marvellous pictures last night of railways lines in 1947 when they were being cleared of drifts. Taken by a foreman on a group normally working on re-railing in North Yorkshire. All wearing long overcoats, flat caps and not a single hi-vis vest or hard hat to be seen.

This was at a local group on narrow gauge railways and some one knew the person who had copies of these photographs which he was able to scan and was given permission to show them
