What will you tell yourself 1 year from now?

Watching an advert the other day has got me thinking???

Clearly this period is a very difficult time for us all, I thought if you were writing yourself a message for 1 years time, when hopefully we are completely through this awful time what would you say? Perhaps appreciating the things that are important, continuing good practices started in lockdown etc.....

Maybe we can look at this thread this time next year to reflect!

Not being able to give your children and grandchildren a hug, socialising with friends a couple of nights a week, listening to news without all the doom and gloom

Assuming of course that I am still here, the message I will send myself is, "You see, you are still here, so be thankful and keep writing to your wonderful friends". I pray that we will all be still here. Take care, everybody, you are a great bunch. By that, I don't mean that you are a bunch of 'nanas'. Take care and STAY SAFE.
Peri.

I have no idea what I'd write to myself to be read a year from now, but I wonder what parents and grandparents with children and grandchildren who are too young to remember this year will say when those youngsters study this in their history classes, then ask, "What did you do in the pandemic, Mom/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa?" Will we recall the isolation and the drumbeat of bad news, or will we recall all the books we read, the time we had to take stock of our lives and work out new ways to live, the in-depth conversations with the people in our households, all the positive things that are going on.

Mine would be ;

Remember how important traveling is, see as much of the world as you can

Remember you can do (small!) DIY jobs successfully if you try and it give you an amazing satisfaction

If this is what retirement is like, then I definitely want to keep working for a number of years to come!!!!!!

Barry in the current situation travel using Earthcam you can see live shots of lots of places like NewYork, Copacabana beach New Orleans Bourbon street

Do DIY jobs - if you are like me that will most definitely help the economy in some small way after lockdown ends as I would be calling all sorts of tradesmen to undertake work and remedy frankly what would be my botch ups [I was thrown out of woodwork and metalwork at school and told never to darken their doors again and I have never done so ]

I retired a few years ago and to be frank I really really prefer it to working but everyone is individual and it very much depends on the work you do . I was a Network Engineer maintaining, supporting and installing networks in two huge Data Centres working twelve hour shifts to which you can add an hour each way for the travelling and I just wanted out the technology was moving that fast and my brain wasn't .

I was Cisco certified and the company were bringing in other manufacturers kit which frankly was so inferior it was really stressful to not only learn the technical support information but also it was so unreliable but clearly cheaper than Cisco which is why they brought it in albeit false economy. A week into retirement I opened the blinds and it was snowing and the sheer joy of not having to scrape the car and skid all the way to the Data Centre told me I'd made the right decision . As Stanley Unwin might have said:-

Now, like all real life experience stories, this also begins once a polly tito, and Cluttybuck the Capatain, whose life evolved the ephemeral colour dreamy most, and his deep joy in this being the multicolour of the moon. ;)

I'd ask why the whole world became obsessed with a tiger abuser who was obsessed with another tiger abuser who killed her husband, a concept to which I'm being less horrified with.

To explain the like Pearl its purely because you highlighted the distasteful notoriety these people have attracted . What next a return of animals to the Circus ring ?? All these adverts for cruelty to animals and here we have people lauding the abusers in the name of Entertainment , just perverse :mad:
