The Summerwine.net music thread

One from the great Roy Wood . Just back off holiday met a couple who ran various pubs in Midlands one had multiple rooms. One day a lady came in an asked if a band could rehearse there every Tuesday they said yes as slow day agreed £25 for the use , the lady insisted no one was allowed to go in . The people I met were gobsmacked when Roy Wood turned up with his band , clearly the band could be heard , word spread his takings went up to thousands from a few quid and he got to know Roy well . I have to say i was in awe he is one of my favourite musicians ever so inventive and accomplished.

Goofy song, but heard it on radio today for the first time since the 90's (when it was played at least once every hour).

Not a huge fan but always liked Squeeze. I didn't know that much about them apart from the "Singles 45" compilation CD (which my family listened to quite often for several years in the car : ) and wondered why they weren't bigger in the US. Stumbled upon this (old and very lengthy) thread on a forum I usually associate with discussions about stereo equipment. I've not read the entire thing (20 pages !) but random clicking through some pages/comments appeared to be spot on and insightful. Sharing for those interested.

Always play these At Christmas, makes me a bit emotional…. but there you go.

I am not a fan of Liszt or his music but I was astonished at the brilliance of the Pianist in this video.

Watched Jools Hootenanny one word DIRE , hopefully that's the last, hard to describe how bad it was , when you think the people he used to attract now reduced to has beens of yesteryear and younger artists who are trying to make an impact but are failing miserably . Roger Taylor singing a medley of Little Richard hits , Really!! and the creme de la creme of those whose ship sailed long long ago and were mediocre at best the Boomtown Rats words just fail me .

I didn't see it, but ohhh I have very little difficulty imagining it.
Jools Hootenanny was almost a yearly ritual for me and mates in past years and now it's just 'WhoToNanny?'.

Awful just Awful :frown2:

Wow. Not heard of them before but enjoyed that song. Looked into their history a bit and sad to hear of the recent passing of singer Liam Reilly.
