I used to like Ansels bitter, now I have a couple of pints of John Smiths smooth at christmas. ;)
 
I like Tetleys(not the t.bags) and a bit of Bulmers cider and every now and then a drop of Port.
 
Here at home, a bourbon Manhattan before dinner and red
wine with.

In Yorkshire, Old Peculiar, Ram Tam, or Riggwelter.
 
Whats a bourbon Manhattan? How do I make that? Bourbon is Jack Daniels, yeah? Is Jim Beam the same sort of thing?
 
I put 2 shots of bourbon. 1 shot of red vermouth, a
splash of water, and ice in a whisky glass.

Almost any permutation works as well.

I do appreciate how topics come up and drive me to into research on questions lying dormant for a long time.

I gather "Bourbon" is made from corn and originated in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Bourbon is strongly associated with the American South in general, and Kentucky in particular.

Jack Daniel's - interesting - "Jack Daniel's is a brand of sour mash Tennessee whiskey that is the best selling whiskey in the world. Although the product generally meets the regulatory criteria for classification as a straight bourbon, the company disavows this classification and markets it simply as Tennessee whiskey rather than as Tennessee bourbon.

Trying to recall Willie Nelson song in which there is the line "and Jack Daniels ran off with my soul".

Jim Beam - "Jim Beam is a brand of bourbon whiskey produced in Clermont, Kentucky. It is currently one of the best selling brands of bourbon in the world."

But beware, Jim Beam also make a Rye Whiskey which as name suggests must start with a mash over 50% Rye. But just to confuse, there is Canadian Rye which does not need any Rye at all. Canadian Club is a typical example. Interestingly, Canadian is designated "Whisky", note spelling which I thought reserved for Scotch, my specialist subject.

Not Willie Nelson at all and the line is "and Jack Daniels walked off with my soul".

But I forgot one, and really have to add it.

After the manhattan and red wine, or after the
Old Peculiar, we always (ALWAYS) have a dram of
single-malt before bed. Perhaps an Ardbeg
or a Highland Park or a Glenfarclas??
 
I don't know anything about Scotch. I know Irish Whiskey. A feller I knew from choir trips to Ireland made me a chart. It took the 24 hours of the day and suited a whiskey for each hour! I have no idea where the chart is now, or if anyone was ever nuts enough to try it. Goodness knows we sampled enough of it there, but never anything on that scale. At least not that I remember.......

My girlfriends brother bought back some sangria last week.First time i have tried it
I liked it.
 
Whisky and Coke on thursday night at work Xmas meal.Bad head next day :( :)
 
Shouldn't have them both on same night then... ;)

Often have Lucozade.
 
I drink Lucozade even when I don't exercise often. Saw that in a supermarket leaflet today, I want to get it! Have 3 1l bottles in the fridge now. Sadly Morrisons only does the Original, Ornage and Cherry Flavours. I have seen apple and the purple bottles in 1l, and want to get Pink Lemonade Lucozade in 1l... MUST TRY... ;)
