Fetch a Cheque book

Wouldn't it be brilliant if you opened it up as a general dealer with the name [would the BBC have trademarked it ? ] or something similar Awkwrights for example [Cockneys say it that way anyway] you would be living the dream especially if you used Arkwright's ethos for charging you'd get visitors from afar I'm sure . There is a rebuilt Cooperative store in Beamish Museum and its packed out with people who come in for nostalgia and quote their or their parents dividend number to the assistants.

Not bad actually, I know of a similar style property here, and it's listed for $789,000 US
Good grief! On the other hand, several months ago there was a drive-by shooting only about three blocks from there, on St James' Gardens, just behind the Sikh Temple. I expect the price of the building is as influenced by the nature of the neighborhood as the quality and potential profitability of the building. I wonder about the condition of the building, too. A while ago, it was slated for demolition.

Just looking at the satellite image in the listing it makes it obvious that when they are 'filming' at the back of the shop that it is a studio set as the doors out onto the street are on the other side.

So would have been a push for Arkwright to capture Customers walking past the shop and around the corner with the old grit in the eye trick . ;)

The yard gates are only the wrong side in "Still OAH" - in the original series they were on the correct, camera / audience, side...

Dunno what its like there, but the big label stores (Big W/Coles here) have obliterated the small corner store/row of shops in AU...
Opening a small corner store is doomed before it began here...
Shame I much prefer smaller rows of shops like that... despise huge shopping centers

It's a shame because Corner Shops were the heart of the community where you could get pretty much anything you needed and they were the hub where neighbours chatted to each other , the shopkeeper knew everyone personally and they promoted community spirit and togetherness you don't get that is huge stores and Supermarkets .
