Interesting, I have seen Meet the wife with Thora in it, good clean comedy

Long suffering husband Freddie Frinton starred in this classic short which I think have posted before but apparently is an institution in Germany and has to be viewed around Christmas without fail and thousands of German families sit down and watch it religiously.

Tis true, it is absolutely relished as the epitomy of our very best humour for them.

Once I find out who the producer is going to be I will be writing to them, telling them I have previous experience
You just need to get your people to talk to their people, remind them of your time at RADA and that you won't sign any contracts unless there are potted meat sandwiches provided during shoots.

Congratulations Leigh on the 50s/60s Forgotten sitcoms thank you for a great piece of work , I imagine this era was the most difficult to research because, as you point out, for so many shows we barely have any information regarding them because they no longer remain available in the Archive and little was written about them so congratulations on your dedication . I was surprised the other day watching Up Pompei on That's TV channel that Talbot Rothwell's name came up as the writer of a few episodes .

As you stated he is really known for the Carry On's but in essence by writing this he resurrected Frankie Howerd's career which had been in the doldrums , with Frankie being in the Carry On's I wonder if he asked Talbot to write Up Pompei for him or if he wrote and influenced the executives that Frankie was the ideal person to be cast.

Thank you... it does help that there are some tv nerds that have managed to preserve some of these 'lost' shows in their blogs, even if the shows are long since gone.

According to Frankie's personal archive, curated and kept by University of York, he was keen on giving 'new' writers a chance, including Talbot, Barry Cryer and Clive Anderson. So it would seem it was Frankie that influenced the choice of Talbot as a writer on Up Pompeii!

Well I am shocked, this was all an April Fools Joke, I had a quick email back from Larry Trembet who stated I could have the part of the chief idiot, I sent the boys round to pay Leigh a visit, but it appears he is in his bunker deep in the wilds of Buckinghamshire somewhere.
Anyway it was all a bit of fun, superbly put together by Leigh and his Ai mates

So I don't get any royalties from Leigh showing my gate then?

For the record:
Terry contacted me about two weeks ago with a suggestion for a Summer Wine April Fool's video. The script was written by Google's Gemini AI (Aime Ginni). I only made minor changes to it. I added the BBC creative consultant "Olaf Lillip" (April Fool) *, and BBC producer "Larry Trembet" (Terry Bartlet). Their images were provided by: https://perchance.org/ai-face-generator
That didn't take much time or effort!

I used "spare" footage from "Summer Wine Decanted" shoots for my walk to / from Intake Lane. The new filming was done about 2 miles from home, it took about an hour including driving there and back.

Writing the "memo" was more time consuming that it might look, but Gemini AI provided a list of "funny" names for me to use:
Jacqueline Hyde = Jekyll and Hyde.
Amy Stake = A mistake
Ophelia Pane = I feel your pain
Toby Lerone = Toblerone

I put the full copyright date: 1 April 2025.

All the clues were there!

The only real names are me, and the musician Augusto Diniz (although that is a professional name, not his real name!).
By 10pm tonight the videos has had 1,669 views, about 30 people commented - some with their own comic suggestions! It gained me 10 new subscribers and earned me about 80p. I'm delisting the video, but you can still view it on the link above.

Cheers!:18:

* edit - I've only just noticed Gemini AI added and "L" and missed an "O" from the anagram!
