See ya Compo

There were three episodes for Compos death,
ELEGY FOR FALLEN WELLIES when he actually died.
SURPRISE AT THROSTLENEST when they tried to follow his wishes regarding his ferrets.

JUST A SMALL FUNERAL his actual funeral and the SEE YA COMPO scene was shown. :'(
There ya go ! thank you, Dick.

Darren pointed out to me that SEE YA COMPO was part of ELEGY FOR FALLEN WELLIES I got my wires crossed sorry :-[

Just watched in series 29 the episode It's Never Ten Years, which showed clips of compo. So, it did take me back to the episode in which they displayed 'See Ya Compo' on the hill.
If I can recall, Clegg is escorted to the hill to show him the display as a surprise. I was wondering if Peter Sallis actually knew about the surprise as written in the script or was it truly a genuine surprise. He did appear astonished at the display; or is he just too brilliant an actor.

Just watched series 29, the episode It's Never Ten Years, which was a tribute to Compo, showing previous clips of him in the show.
This reminded me of the episode in which 'See Ya Compo' is displayed on the hillside. If I can recall, in the episode Clegg is escorted to the hill-top to be shown the surprise. He appeared astonished at seeing the display. Was this written in the script, or was Peter Sallis actually taken to the hill only to be genuinely surprised. Either, that or he is one brilliant actor.

A friend was there that day when they filmed that, he tells me the cast including Peter were there most of the day while they set the shot up and did several takes, so he would of HAVE been aware

Maybe they should have put these all together to make a film version.

One hell of a sad film, take plenty of tissues with you.
When you think about it, they did well to make a comedy programme out of such a sad storyline. Well done to the whole cast.

So, clearly, Peter Sallis was a very talented actor, because it looked so genuine.

I think his reaction would have been genuine regarding the number of years they worked together. Other actors/characters came and went but Peter/Clegg and Bill/Compo were there right from the start.
